In todays game, would Wayne Gretzky in his prime be worth a $250+ million contract?
Bob Naegele: Gretzky, needless to say, has been a fine player, a good businessman and a posterboy for hockey at all levels. The economics of baseball and hockey are quite different as far as the potential revenue streams. When you look at the TV contracts, you see a disparity there that indicates there are limits. What do you have planned for next season to keep the fans coming to the games? Bob Naegele: With regard to the second year, we trust that we will play with the same level of commitment every night. Remembering that this year we came together from all different backgrounds and have done quite well under those circumstances.
