In the Tacoma Wa area I plead to a charge of 3rd degree assault as amended from a protection order violation that was granted to the “victim” via no due process (for me) and outright fraud by the “victim”. How can I get free legal aid to set this right?
Most major cities have a legal aid office. Look it up online or check the Yellow Pages. If a PO was filed on you and you were served with papers, it then became YOUR responsibility to avoid the person who filed on you. In getting closer than the set avoidance distance, you broke the terms of the PO. In getting pegged with 3rd Degree Assault, then you didn’t accidentally enter the avoidance distance, you willfully closed the distance and then assaulted (asault has many definitions, depending on your area) her. There is nothing to set right, IMHO. You could have avoided her until the PO expired and then sought to correct the problem peacefully but you chose to break the law.
