In the Multi-single (MULTI-ONE) category, what is the multiplier station?
The multi-single category rules have a long history and are not easy to understand. The category allows only one transmitter and one band during a 10 minute period. But, there is an exception that allows a second band to be used only to work multipliers. This is often called the multiplier station. The run band station can work anyone. The multiplier band station can only work multipliers. Once you make a QSO on the run band, you must stay there for 10 minutes. Once you make a QSO on the multiplier band, it must stay on that band for 10 minutes. Think of having two 10 minute timers – one for the run band and one for the multiplier band. Once the 10 minutes is finished, you have the option to change to another band. The run and multiplier QSOs must be marked in the log file. In column 81 of each QSO line, enter a 0 to indicate a QSO made on the run band or a 1 to indicate a QSO made on the multiplier band.
