The core concepts of biology will continue to be covered. However, fewer examples or illustrations will be chosen, and these will be discussed in more depth to enhance student comprehension and retention of the material. The Task Force has not addressed the problem of the syllabus, which should be determined by the teachers of the courses. Many of these changes focus on the Biological Sciences major. What will students who are in biological sciences, but not biology majors per se take? Students in CALS departments outside the Biological Science major and others who need a basic introduction to biology will continue to be offered a one-year introduction to biology through a lecture format course (similar to the current Bio101-102) and an autotutorial format course (similar to the current Bio105-106).
