In the Eye Pattern configuration menu Mode, what is the difference between overlay and 10? Obviously it shows more eyes, but what else is changed?
In OVERLAY the eye pattern time base is triggered so that bits 0-9 are overlaid. This shows peak jitter at each eye crossing. 10-EYE triggers the time base on parallel word boundaries, so bits 0-9 are shown sequentially. In a perfect world both modes would show the same jitter, but some systems show eye-crossing modulation at 2 and 5 times the parallel word rate. 10 EYE helps show this if it is present. OVERLAY is recommended for making jitter measurements with the eye pattern. See the WFM601M user manual for a discussion on OVERLAY and 10-EYE.
