According to regulations, it would not be appropriate for the government to recommend or nominate candidates. The governments preference should actually be implemented through the approved selection mechanism. The President formed the selection committee through a presidential decree. So, if the government went ahead and nominated its choice, that would not be seen as fair. Right now, anyone who applies will have the same chance. I think a dilemma would be created if the committee acted because there was a favorite nominee.
