What would be the best diet list for swimmer? At 10 years old, he should concentrate more on having fun rather than on serious training. If it is more work than fun for him now, he won’t stick with it and it definitely will not be fun for him later. As for diet, you should be concerned more about what a growing 10 year old boy needs rather than trying to create an “athlete’s” diet. At 10 years old, the kids who are generally faster are -usually- more affected by natural talent rather than any training. A 10 year old’s body is still developing and changing and growing rapidly and heavy training will be not necessarily have an impact on how the “final product” turns out. In fact, it could end up doing more harm than good. I competed in swimming for almost 15 years and coached for about 10. I saw lots of very talented 10 year olds who won all their races, but by the time they were 14 they were so burnt out from all the pressure from their parents and coaches that they didn’t want to swim
