In some games like Unreal Tournament 3 it seems the game crashs as soon as a cheat is used. In addition theres a little icon-hint in the systray for DEP, what should I do now?

With WinXP SP2 Microsoft has started the DEP (Data Execution Prevention). While DEP is protecting by default only the Windows-programs and services and don’t make big problems in XP-systems, there’re more problems on Vista. In normal case DEP shouldn’t protect games on the lowest possible option (default), but e.g. Unreal Tournament 3 is different there. In the Windows-help it’s possible to get a quick solution to disable DEP for single programs (games). Unfortunately this won’t work for UT3. But fortunately there’s a backdoor for such cases to disable DEP completely also on Vista. To disable DEP run the commandline/terminal with admin-rights and enter the following command bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff. After the next start of your system DEP will be disabled and won’t make problems any longer.
