CustomMailer will automatically use one of several publicly available DNS servers if you do not provide the DNS servers you want to use. However, these external DNS servers will respond more slowly than the ones that are provided for your use as part of your Internet service, so you really should specify your own DNS servers if you intend to make much use of the Verify Addresses and/or Direct Send features.
