In practical terms will it not be assumed that such matters as the existence of Nigeria as one entity is settled?
Kuti: That is one of the major issues that should be for discussion because the country has not settled down since independence. The entities that make up Nigeria should be in Nigeria willingly, not to be coerced. I have the feeling that many people do not want Nigeria to be dissolved. But certainly a lot of restructuring is expected. And we can say that in the National Political Reform Conference. JE: In practical terms what does PRONACO hope to achieve? Kuti: What we intend to do is provide the platform on which the representatives of the people can sit down and discuss freely without coercion. Hopefully when the decisions of the Conference emerge it will not be altered by any group or authority except a referendum of the people. JE: Given that PRONACO does not have the force of law behind it, isn’t this an exercise in futility or a mirage? Kuti: The people’s representatives are meeting and talking. I think it will be a legitimate Conference. It will be implemented. JE: Isn’t it fair
