In order to get a complete model of a facility, would it be necessary to carry out the survey from scaffolding or cranes to scan inaccessible areas?
A strong point of our system is “lift and fit” technology designed by Leica to eliminate the expensive use of cranes and scaffolding to take detailed measurements of normally difficult to access areas. It would be a rare situation that we would need to employ scaffolding or cranes to achieve our project goals. In most cases we work from existing vantage points on adjacent plant. For offshore work, it may be necessary (or cost effective) to geo-reference some points off the platform if viable stable positions can be found. Ideally most of the scan data would be from geo-referenced locations on the platform itself where we would setup the scanner to perform our measurements. In this way it is usually possible to capture most (if not all) data necessary from the installation. Our experienced project planners would custom fit any geo-referencing and scanning positions to fit the requirements of each individual site.
