In Morrowind, what happens if you kill an NPC before getting the quest to do so?

If, in the future quest, you are supposed to kill them – great job – you’ve already done it – the NPC that gives the quest will treat it as you have completed the quest. For both of your specific examples, this is still the case – you will still be rewarded for killing them. If you are *not* supposed to kill them – better restore a saved game, otherwise – oops. A final note: even if you kill an essential NPC (“breaking the threads of prophecy”, blablabla) and you can’t restore a saved game, no worries – there is still a way to finish the game. It involves killing a god – but, hey, no worries, right…? right.
