In MMWA, why is the head & arm, or headlock, throw illegal for the 5-6 and 7-8 year old wrestlers?
The headlock, or head and arm, is illegal for 5-6 and 7-8 year old wrestlers when used for the takedown. The referee is supposed to stop it before the opponent is thrown to the mat, and call it potentially dangerous. If he can’t stop it, it’s an illegal move. The thrown wrestler is awarded 1 point, no takedown is scored, and they continue from the neutral position (on their feet).
