Overtime is not compulsory, it is outside of a contract, therefore it is your chioce of whether to accept or reject overtime regardless of notice given. However if you have a dodgy employer and your company is regularly short staffed there may be pressure on you to do overtime and if you refuse there may be penalties but these would be unofficial and unethical.
