In Cancun Mexico what currency is more widely used is it the peso or the US dollar?
Since it’s Mexico the official currency is the peso but US dollars are accepted everywhere in Cancun, although the exchange rate is not the best so try to get pesos in a money exchange booth at the airport or a bank (better exchange rates than at the hotel zone). In almost every shop or business you’ll find the prices marked in both pesos and US dollars so feel free to use whatever currency you have but keep in mind that if they need to give you change back it will be done in pesos.
