in autumn 2003 for LEAs and schools with sixth forms. What has been the outcome of this consultation exercise?
Over 1400 delegates, representing over 1,000 individual schools and the vast majority of LEAs attended the conferences. The aim of which was to explain details of the funding system and to consult on the future direction of the funding system. Feedback was sent to all schools along with their 2004/05 initial allocations. The conferences demonstrated that schools appear comfortable with the LSC’s funding role, with many welcoming it. There was strong support for the simplified pupil adjustment introduced in 2003/04 and this simplification has now been extended to 2004/05 and beyond. A range of issues from the consultation are being taken forward by the LSC and the DfES.
