In a Technate will there be large cities like New York with its teeming millions, or will there be smaller self-sufficient units?
The centers of population in a Technate would be smaller and more self-sufficient than New York City. Metropolises of trade and commerce, as such, would dwindle into insignificance for the simple reason that trade and commerce would not exist. Centers of industry might or might not come to occupy the same places. Along with redistribution of industry would come a redistribution of population. It is not improbable that New York and other similar locales would be mined for the metal they contain; salvage companies do this now. 6.
