Schools receiving School Improvement Funds and schools participating in the School Base Coordinated Program are required to establish a School Site Council (SSC). The SSC is the governing body at the school with the authority to make decisions regarding the school’s budget, and is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the school’s improvement plan. The SSC is authorized only to make decision over state funds in the school’s budget. When a school becomes eligible to participate in a Schoolwide Program, it must establish a School Leadership Team, which has the authority to make decisions over the federal funds that are combined in the Schoolwide Program plan. Both need to receive technical assistance from the school support team/technical assistance providers in order to conduct a comprehensive needs assessment and develop a schoolwide plan for all students.
