The new Safety Performance History rule requires employers to obtain more and better information about applicants who are seeking jobs as commercial motor vehicle drivers. In turn, it requires a driver’s past employer(s) to provide more information about the driver’s safety performance history to other employers who request it. A driver’s safety performance history is information about the driver’s accident and drug/alcohol testing history for the past three years.
