In a nutshell, how does the Village want the “Apples to Apples” spreadsheet to influence my vote?
According to Village officials, this spreadsheet has “has all the numbers” and tells you as a voter “what you need to know.” If you look at the year 2018 column the spreadsheet reflects that the Village will be in the red (running a deficit) under both options. Specifically, under option A (keep MFD), the Village will be in the red about $1.3 million dollars; whereas, under Option B (abolish MFD), it will be in the red about $830,000, which is a difference of $470,000. Apparently, Village officials want Mariemont citizens to abolish the Mariemont Fire Department because the Village allegedly will not be in as worse financial shape in 2018 than with joining the LMFR.
