In a field dominated by females can male candidates make it a success in nursing?

Nursing is no longer the bastion of lady nurses. In last five years the scene has changed and now more and more male candidates are opting for a nursing career and are being successful at it also. Female nurses are exclusively needed in labour room and maternity ward. Except these areas perhaps male nurses are needed everywhere else. Especially in psychiatry (where there is a potential of facing a violent patient) and emergency (where speed and a lot of physical stamina is needed) areas health care industry needs male nurses. The male to female ratio of nursing students has reached 1:3 in some schools/colleges and steadily increasing as of now.
