Implications for Indian Industry What are the implications of REACH for Indian textile suppliers and Garment export houses?
REACH is applicable to importers and manufacturer of the products within Europe. The Indian textile / garment suppliers are implicated because the importer’s have to register / evaluate / authorize the chemicals (including those embedded on the garment / cloth / textile) and in order to be able to do so the importer will have to gather these information from his suppliers. Thus it’s the importer (with the help of his suppliers) who will have to organize the information and submit it for the registration.
