You may qualify for the Hope Scholarship Tax Credit. Available since Jan. 1, 1998, the Hope Credit equals 100 percent of the first $1,100 paid for qualified tuition and fees, plus 50 percent of the next $1,100, for a maximum tax credit of $1,650 per year. The Hope Credit is available to eligible students in the first two years of college or vocational school.
