I’m wondering if the increase in the price of a private island will affect other tier fees?
Giving some thought to the price structure: The cost of a sim to 128 annual premium users ($72 US/yr) pooling their resources works out to $9,216 US per year or $768 US per month. Although I am a new user (just a couple of weeks old) and find my own dream of owning a private island pushed back by this new pricing, I can appreciate (after spending much time shopping for SL real estate) that many private sim estates are making orders of magnitude more off the sims than the site’s creators, and do so with a fixed costs, while Linden Lab has to foot fluxuating bills for software development, server maintenance, and troubleshooting, not to mention Internet bandwidth and electricity. I appreciate the amount of work that goes into maintaining the servers, performing backups, and implementing updates while the world is “live” is a non-trivial.
