Im training in the USA for 6 months next year. Can I take and ride my motorbike (uk reg) over there?
Although all states have their own rules, America is notoriously difficlut in allowing UK bikes to be ridden there. I think as you only want to half the year you may have some problems, as some states may only allow the bike to be imported permanently. Also, a few states (california for eg) have very strict emissions laws that require vehicles to have extra parts added to make them ‘cleaner’. Also, headlights have to be adjusted as they drive on the other side of the road (headlights do point in one direction slightly more than the other depending on your native country) Best bet is to have a search about online, maybe try the US Customs and Excise (or equivalent) website and see about vehicle import laws. To be honest, it may work out cheaper to buy a cheap US bike and sell after 6 months, as transport costs and import taxes can be very high. Hope this helps, and good luck!
