Not to worry. The average civil servant is age 31 when hired. Again, doing your homework is the key. Once you’ve found agencies with openings get the Vacancy Announcement for each job. It will tell what skills and experience are required. For middle and upper level jobs be prepared to submit a KSA (knowledge, skills and abilities) statement for the specific job you seek. An example of a KSA is the requirement that you have the “ability to communicate both orally and in writing.” You will be asked to demonstrate how you have done that, in a work environment, as a volunteer or in an academic situation.
