I have/still use and can recommend: Soundback International supplers of backing tracks in any key on Mini Disc, Cassette, Dat or CD. They have studios in: Chelmsford – 01245 323382 Ipswich – 01473 250021 “Hands On” Audio based in Chichester (01243 670099) suppliers of cassette and midi backing tracks (may also do other formats). Their midifiles are of very good quality and enable you to change the key or mute instruments. London Orchestrations/Protracks based in Surrey 0208 660 6819 and 0208 668 0219 supply good full instrumental backing tracks and full orchestration (sheet music) to match (handy if you need to work with a band and ensure that what they play is the same as your tracks! Some of the Karaoke backing music available in high street shops (hmv, woolworths, whs, tandys etc) are very good although you need to check they don’t contain lead in vocals on the first lines and are in the right key. Hope this helps & good luck with your new venture.
