If the files are located on a networked filesystem (e.g., through NFS*, AFS*, or Samba*), then there may be restrictions on root access to those files (or directories containing those files) on that filesystem. Check with your system administrator for details. Note: it is highly recommended that vtserver be run as a non-root user. If multiple users need to use vtserver, then add those users to a special group and make sure the relevant files and directories can be accessed by members of that group. Then run vtserver as one of the non-root members of that group.
