I’m pregnant. Is it safe to have dental work done?

It is safe to have routine dental work done whilst you are pregnant. It is recommended that you have a thorough check-up and x-rays prior to becoming pregnant- if possible; it is far better to enter into pregnancy with healthy teeth and gums, x-rays taken, all dental work completed. Your teeth do not fall apart when you have babies – it is more likely that you have less time for yourself and are too tired to take as good a care of your teeth as you had previously, leading to problems. You are important and your health (including oral) is vital to the well being of your child, so taking care of yourself means you are able to take care of your baby.
