Im planning a trip to Hawaii. Is Hawaiian Airline still good to travel or is it bankrupt?
The days of cheap airfares may be gone. Current prices more accurately reflect the price of fuel than the bargains that spoiled us and led to several bankruptcies. Hawaiian Airlines itself went through Chapter 11 Restructuring a few years ago but emerged from it quite soon. It’s also had no fatal accidents in the last 38 years at least, quite possibly, ever. Hawaiian airlines ticket sales are up 25% since Aloha and ATA went bankrupt last month. They were stretched a little thin at first, among other things taking care of ground operations for Island Air, which Aloha had done previously. Since I fly with Island Air about once a week, I’ve dealt with Hawaiian Airline personnel several times, and they seem to be just fine. When I fly to North America, I always try to fly Continental. I don’t even look to see if they’re cheaper anymore. I just appreciate their level of service on a long haul.
