The Trust awards scholarships to outstanding students from a diverse range of backgrounds and educational institutions. To date there have been over 900 Gates Scholars from over 450 educational institutions worldwide. Candidates are simply required to have a first or high second class honours degree or equivalent (e.g. excellent GPA scores) from their respective Universities. This means demonstrating a high level of academic achievement, irrespective of undergraduate institution. In other words, applicants from any university who meet the eligibility criteria and have strong reasons for pursuing a particular course at Cambridge are encouraged to apply.
