A Although your friend may have previous dance experience in other forms of dance she will probably need to start from level one to properly learn the basics of Middle Eastern Dance. No doubt she will probably excel quickly and can move on to higher levels through the Level Evaluation. Even as an experienced dancer in other dance forms, the movements done in Middle Eastern Dance are quite different from other dance forms. Like any other physical activity or skill it is best to learn the foundations properly and safely. There are a couple of other ways to advance quickly through the Foundations Levels: • Private lessons – and then go through an evaluation to see what level the student fits into. • Foundations Intensives – Many students choose to take a couple of the Foundations Intensive classes offered at the end/beginning of each semester. • Practice Practice Practice – Practicing with friends is always helpful and will speed up the process of catching up to their level.
