You will be fine! A root canal is really not as bad or as scary as it sounds! No pain! I’ve had several, and it’s not a big deal, reall! I always try to relax as much as possible and to be as cooperative as possible when I am at the dentist–I figure if I do, I will be out of there sooner! They are very experienced at what they do, and are also very aware of when you are uncomfortable–they must take lessons in face reading, as mine will suddenly stop and ask if I’m ok! If you feel any pain, let them know and they will numb you more. <the Wand” for numbing your mouth instead of the traditional needle. It’s wonderful! No pain! After you’re numb, you won’t feel much of anything. It’s good to eat something before going to the dentist (and then brush, of course!), as when they are working in your mouth your brain thinks you are eating and will produce more saliva! It’s e

What your feeling now is the worst of it, the dentist will give you two shots one in the outer gums and the other inside gum area the shots that is. With the shots and pain killers it won’t be so bad, I found the worst was the pain in my neck from having to keep it in one position. I just went through five root canals all since Sept. 2008, the pain before seeing the dentist was really bad the procedure was fairly quick and now all is well again! Just before going to the dentist drink ice cold water, when it hits the bad tooth your anxiety will disappear and you will look forward to having the dentist rid you of this pain..;) It might be good idea to start going every half year for cleaning and check up!

I’ve had a few root canals and I can honestly say it won’t hurt. You will get numbed beforehand so you will not feel any pain. I would recommend that you talk to your dentist and tell him (her) about your anxiety. He will in all probability, accommodate your feelings and be extra gentle. Good Luck!
