I’m getting Income Support and caring for a disabled child are there any other benefits I can get?
A. You should check if you could claim Disability Living Allowance for your child. If you are successful in getting the middle or higher care rate you should also claim Carer’s Allowance. Although this will be deducted from your Income Support you should still be better off as you will get an extra amount of Income Support called the carer premium. You will also be entitled to an extra disabled child premium if you are still paid Income Support for the child. If you get Child Tax Credit you may also be entitled to a an increased amount higher amount.
