Im getting an error like this: “Error starting KDE, kwin cannot start X server”. What can I do?
To avoid errors with KDE, make sure all the appropriate up-to-date components are downloaded and installed for your distribution. In fact reinstall those components and make sure they are up to date. If there are further problems it could be that other dependent libraries are the wrong version and that your KDE binary was compiled for either newer or older libraries. A full distribution reinstall could be the easiest way out for general users. Keep in mind that a whole Linux installation is dependent on some general libraries such as the all important glibc.
