Since the egg is not eaten, it would only prove to be an obstacle for those who refuse to have the egg in their home. Traditionally roasted, the egg doesn’t even need to touch any of your cooking dishes if you wrap it in foil first. Then it only needs to sit on the plate in the center of your table. Since the plate is supposed to be special, and used only for passover, there is no chance that you will eat off this plate in the future, and therefore will not be eating off anything that has touched the egg.
