I’m a triathlete should I do a cycling and running assessment?
Your heart rate zones are different for each modality. We know that your Anaerobic Threshold is within about 10 – 15 bpm for each sport; however, Aerobic Base (AB) and heart rate training zones can be radically different for each modality. Here are the actual results of one of our athletes to demonstrate (zone 1-3): Though her Anaerobic Threshold is 15 beats apart (158 cycling and 173 running) her Aerobic Base is radically different (138 cycling and 163 running). If she were to use her cycling results during a running plan she would not be working hard enough or in the zones that her plan requires.
