You can find an employer to sponsor you or you can apply for an independent, non-sponsored visa; another alternative is to apply for state government sponsorship.You have all of those alternatives because we need nurses so badly here. Simply finding a job without sponsorship won’t really make anything any easier or faster. Employer sponsored visas are granted faster, but you are then tied to that employer for a period of time. Pros and cons • Independent, non-sponsored visa – takes a bit longer (maybe 3 or 4 months longer at worst) – no additional step to find sponsorship – can work anywhere and for anyone – you won’t have a job to walk into, but plenty of jobs available – need 120 points for points test – job offer gives you more points • Employer sponsored visa – granted very quickly once sponsorship arranged – additional step to line up sponsorship – tied to employer and location, at least at first – job waiting whe
