If you do not have French 30 or equivalent, you should first consider taking FREN 111 and 112 in the summer before you start your studies at MacEwan. You can take those courses in July and August at the University of Alberta through the Open Studies program. If that option is not possible, you will have to do all three levels of French in just two years. You can take FREN 111 and 112 in the first year of your program. Then you need to take FREN 211 and 212 at the University of Alberta through the Open Studies program. If you take those two courses during Spring session, you will still have time left to participate in Explore (Second Language Bursary Program) in July or August. By extending your period of study with a five-week course in Quebec, you will gain more confidence and stronger oral skills, and you will be better prepared to take FREN 297 and 298 in your second year.
