What you heard about braxton hicks is wrong they can and do hurt they just are regular. Period like cramps are normal as long as there not to painful. Also you baby is getting bigger so it could just be your uterus growing.

Braxton Hicks contractions are normal and start at about 10 weeks into pregnancy. They CAN be painful, or breathtakingly uncomfortable, but they are nothing to worry about. They happen to everyone, but some women seem to be completely unaware of them. Strenuous activity seems to bring them on, but you will get them even when you are relaxing. As you are now nearing the end of pregnancy they will increase in frequency. I think, perhaps, the uterus is flexing its muscular self in preparation for labour – in fact, at the very end of pregnancy, they have the effect of making the baby lie in the correct position for labour. Don’t worry – all is well and your body is working as it should.
