IGN FAQs: Sure thing — but just for those of us not in the know — whats the difference between bishoujo and shoujo?
Fraudulent.Saint: Well, bishoujo [means] pretty girl, so anything that’s centered on pretty girls can be defined as that term. It doesn’t have to be of an adult nature (you’d never know it from what I write). When I usually encounter the term, shoujo refers to something meant more for a female audience, stories that focus more on romance than action.
