Well I leased a Rabbit (same engine and tranny as the Jetta) at the end of December and so far I really like this car. For the price, I don’t think you can beat Volkswagen’s quality and solid feel. The engine for the 2008 model has been revamped with 20 more horsepower and receives an average reliability rating. I know “average” sounds bad, but if you think about it, average just means it’s probably slightly lower in reliability than a Corolla or Civic which you can’t kill if you try. So I’d say the Jetta is very reliable. Volkswagen builds a good car. I used to have a ’98 Jetta and rarely had anything go wrong with it. It was also fairly inexpensive to repair. As long as you take good care of it, it’ll return the favor. I promise. 🙂 Hope you chose a V-dub! Oh, by the way. I would like to suggest VW’s 5-speed manual transmission instead of the automatic. A Jetta with a stick shift is a blast to drive. My Rabbit is a stick and it’s an awesome tranny!
