LG Employers would take the view that requesting dates of employment, education and any gaps in employment in an application form can be justified on the grounds that it is a proportionate means of achieving the legitimate aim of ensuring appropriate and safe appointments are made to particular jobs. The need to verify this information at some point in the recruitment process is more important for particular types of jobs. The argument is more compelling where there are care issues, but for whatever job there is a need to some extent to assess qualifications, experience, etc.
