Wow! Really good question! I think that God created humans so we can’t see without light, so that when he created light, we can have a wonderful source of inspiration and connection with him. Maybe he created light for us to enjoy. Physically speaking, the life he created cannot survive without the sun, so I guess he had to create light to create us and everything else. Light is his gift to us. Plus, I think as humans we associate good things with light and bad things with dark, just because we can see in light, obviously. I totally agree with what milkhoney said too.
