If there have been no changes to a WLAN infrastructure since “go live,” wouldn’t it be safe to assume that there has been no degradation in performance?

WLANs change over time no matter whether any changes were introduced. These “evolutionary” changes may be small, but could have an adverse affect on performance – especially if performance was already close to the borderline of acceptability. There is also the possibility that new sources of RF emissions have been introduced into the proximity of the WLAN without your knowledge of its impact. Has the adjacent office space been converted to a lunchroom with a bank of microwave ovens? That would be a problem.
