If the US government restores $2 billion cut from state and local law enforcement, will crime be reduced?
The solution to reducing crime in the U.S. requires more thought, planning and teamwork than simply restoring billions of dollars to law enforcement. Though this restoration may help harness crime at a national level for the short term, it will most likely not have a lasting impact. A more effective method to reducing crime throughout the country is to identify crime rates at a local level. Crime exists everywhere, but every city has different predominant issues to tackle. If the government approaches crime at a concentrated, local level, than more money can be put toward education, awareness and resources to help reduce crime from city to city. This targeted approach requires a grassroots effort to educate and reform people on the crime that they face every day in their own communities.
