If the two cerebral hemispheres were out of touch, would they feel different emotions and think differently?
Not necessarily. But it can result in feelings of extreme and bewildering confusion. There are all sorts of weird things that can happen when the cerebral hemispheres can’t communicate with each other. In cases of extreme epilepsy, sometimes the connections between the two hemispheres are surgically severed to alleviate seizuring. One side effect is “alien hand syndrome.” Caused by both halves of the brain sending out signals telling parts of the body to perform certain actions, and winding up with mixed messages. For example, the right hand might be trying to pull up your pants and the left hand keeps getting in the way and trying to pull the pants back down and you don’t know why.
