If the patient does not show up for a methacholine challenge, can the methacholine doses be charged?
You can’t charge Medicare, but you can create a practice policy that no shows are charged (personally, not their insurance) for the medication if it has already been mixed and is wasted. We have such a policy, and we inform patients of this policy as they schedule the test. We have very few no shows.
