No. A.R.S. ยง15-183.C.4 requires all persons engaged in instructional work directly as a classroom, laboratory or other teacher or indirectly as a supervisory teacher, speech therapist or principal to have a valid fingerprint clearance card. The law does not provide an exception during the renewal process. To help avoid this situation, charter schools should establish a mechanism to track card expiration dates for their staff and to alert staff well in advance of the expiration date.
