If the audits are being undertaken through PCTs, won’t it be targeted to try and catch out trusts and will they have the opportunity to discuss the findings or see a copy of the report?
While this work will be undertaken as part of the PCT audit, the focus is to improve overall data quality standards and not to identify gaming or catch trusts out. The PbR Code of Conduct from the DH states that any information generated from the assurance framework must be shared. Clinical coding auditors will be required to discuss and agree findings with trusts before they leave the trust. Trusts will also have the opportunity to discuss the draft report produced for the PCTs.
